Spectral Insights into Diesel Quality
The Raman spectra of conventional low-sulfur diesel and ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) reveal the analyzer’s ability to distinguish subtle compositional differences. Specific spectral bands, highlighted with downward arrows in the figure, are prominent in the low-sulfur diesel sample but absent in the ULSD sample. These spectral distinctions allow Raman technology to accurately quantify sulfur content and other critical parameters, even at trace levels required for ULSD compliance.
